Are you looking for a larger tyre for the Burley Trailers to improve handling and comfort?

Here is a blog written by one of our customers Rob who wanted to improve the quality of his Burley Bee ride without shedding out a fortune for the Burley 16" wheel:

"I have a Burley Bee single and wanted to improve the quality of the ride for my child, being a 20 inch wheel I started looking at BMX tyres; I found that the majority of them are quite thick rubber or reinforced with Kevlar in order to stand up to the punishment of the style of riding and high pressure used.

I finally came across the Schwalbe "billy Bonkers" (20x2.0) which is a very lightweight, and therefore supple tyre. The colour complements the Bee and it fits well with original safety features (handbrake, and wheel guard)
I have been running it successfully at 15psi, at which pressure it is more supple than the Burley supplied tyre with no air in it :)

On a first fitting note, I would recommend making a soapy water mix and coating the tyre and rim, this will enable it to slip into position easier when it is pumped up to the maximum 65psi (and if you are able to, leave it at that pressure for a week so that the tyre sits into position more permanently)

I replaced the inner tube for the increased volume as well, and the valve comes with a little lock ring which helps with connecting a pump when the pressure is low (The valve doesn't disappear into the rim)

This set up also shaves 500g off the weight of the wheels, which is a nice bonus when it comes to carrying it."
